 Developer Spotlight
Charles Cecil's head Name: Charles Cecil
Company: Revolution

Favourite games?
Apart from our own, probably the LucasArts games from the early '90s - in particular Day of the Tentacle.

When did you start?
My first adventure game was 'Inca Curse' for the Sinclair Zx81 in 1981!

Number of projects?
Since I have worked both as a developer and a publisher for over 20 years, I have worked on too many to count.

Current Project?
Our primary focus is on Broken Sword - The Sleeping Dragon, although I am throwing around ideas for a top-secret game to follow - which is not another Broken Sword game, before you ask!

Your strong points?
We have a passion for the games that we write, and take it very seriously. In particular we respect the people who play our games.

Weaknesses?
Like the genre itself, we are pigeon-holed as developers of old-style adventures which couldn't be further from the truth.

Did you expect to get this far?
No - when I left school I thought that I was going to be an engineer. I feel very privileged to have had the opportunity to work in this incredible industry pretty much since its birth.

My favourite games include Indiana Jones & The Fate Of Atlantis, The Dig and Teen Agent. I started making adventure games when I was about 12, in 1996. I used QBasic to start with, and then in 2000 I started using Adventure Game Studio. I have designed more than a hundred projects to date, and worked on over a hundred too - not just developing but also creating music. I'm currently working on Indiana Jones & The Fountain Of Youth. My strong points as a developer include the fact that I am very creative, enthusiastic and fun - but my weaknesses are that I'm sometimes bossy and impatient! In ten years time, I hope to have my own company up and running that develops adventure games.
